Nicole Thorne Jenkins

Nicole Thorne Jenkins is the John A. Griffin Dean of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. Prior to arriving at McIntire, she was the Von Allmen Endowed Chair of Accountancy and vice dean at the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. Professor Jenkins has also served on the faculty at Vanderbilt University and Washington University in St. Louis. Her research interests include the investigation of financial reporting failures, share repurchase, and the effect of social networks on performance outcomes. Professor Jenkins’s teaching experience has focused on financial reporting topics in executive education, graduate, and undergraduate programs. Earlier in her career, she served as an auditor and consultant at Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. Professor Jenkins consults and serves as an expert witness on matters related to financial reporting, valuation, and estimation of damages. She is a certified public accountant and is the immediate past president of the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section of the American Accounting Association. Professor Jenkins completed her undergraduate work in accounting and finance at Drexel University and received a PhD in accounting from the University of Iowa.
