Christine Phillpotts, CFA

Christine Phillpotts, CFA, is a senior vice president and senior equity research analyst covering Africa and Eastern Europe for AllianceBernstein’s Emerging and Frontier Markets portfolios. She identifies and manages listed equity investments, has contributed to the launch of the Next 50 Emerging Markets Fund, and evaluates the Emerging Markets Value strategy’s portfolio risks and opportunities across geographies. Prior to joining the firm, she was the global portfolio manager for the Grassroots Business Fund (GBF), a fund which was established by the International Finance Corporation and invests in privately held companies in emerging and frontier markets. While at GBF, Ms. Phillpotts sourced, structured and supervised investments across several countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Ghana, Rwanda and Mozambique. As a member of the fund’s internal investment committee, she also assessed and approved transactions in Latin America and Asia. Before that, Ms. Phillpotts was an equity research associate at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. She is a member of AllianceBernstein’s Women’s Leadership Council and served as the co‐chair of AllianceBernstein’s Black Employee Resource Group. She previously served on the board of directors of the CFA Society of New York and the Harvard Business School Association of Boston and is a Robert Toigo Foundation Fellow. Ms. Phillpotts earned a BA in economics from Columbia University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
